Dry flower or herbs are the most feasible resource for home distillation, because of its long years of shelf life and easy to order. You may heard soaking dry herbs before distillation is good. I did an experiment comparing essential oil yield and quality of hydrosol from dry lavender and 12-hour soaked lavender. The results are very clear. You may want to watch the video to know better.
